How to Get the Winning Look from Last Night's Finale of NBC's "Fashion Star"

After consulting with Kara for her final look Theodore suggested the models do something a little different (for Kara, at least!) and wear their hair down but alas, Kara wanted to continue with her signature updo style with tons of volume. For the finale, Theodore took the look to the highest of heights (literally!) and gave Cambria a punk rock look for the runway. To recreate the final winning look (and channel your inner rocker), try the following steps:

1. Start by sectioning the hair in two – top half and bottom half. Twist the top half up and secure with a hair stick to get it out of the way.

2. Taking the bottom section of hair, pull the right side back flat against your head and secure with a bobby pin. Be sure to smooth the hair so it’s slicked back and clean. Repeat on the left side.

3. Next, remove the hair stick from the top of the head. Take one-inch sections of hair and spray the roots with Suave Professionals® Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray to create grip for teasing. Then using a brush, tease the hair at the roots for extra high volume.

4. Gently brush the hair in a backward motion to smooth top layer, but be careful not to lose the volume you just created. Curl the ends under and secure with bobby pins. Lightly spray with hairspray to set.

5. Complete this high volume look with Suave Professionals Men® Wet Look Styling Gel (don’t be afraid to snag your guy’s products – especially for an extreme look like this!). Dispense a dollop into your hand, emulsify and smooth the sides. If needed, use a toothbrush to tame any flyaways.

Look 1: Designers Luciana and Ronnie are paired together and need find the right look that compliments both their styles. For Luciana, Theodore creates a braided chignon and stresses that to keep the braid casual, the trick is to not pull hair too tight. He finishes the look with his newest styling must-have, the NEW Suave Professionals^® Dry Conditioner, to refresh the ends.

 

Look 2: Designer Barbara knows exactly what she wants - a sexy look that goes from day-to-night. He then twists Lauren’s hair into a bun and secures it with a pencil, which Lauren removes on the runway for some added drama. Look 1: Theodore can’t wait to hear what look designer Kara wants this time around and was not shocked to hear that she wanted an androgynous look … again. Theodore fears she, like most other designers, is in a style rut. To spice things up, he creates a rocker-chic updo with Suave Professionals^® Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray to top off this spectacular look that left both model and designer thrilled!

 

Look 2: Theodore predicted that he would have to pull some new ideas out of designer Orly this week, and he was right. Theodore tries something new, a 1940’s inspired look with a modern twist! Suave Professionals NEW Keratin Infusion 30 Day Smoothing Kit Makes its TV Debut on NBC's "Fashion Star"



On last night’s episode of NBC’s “Fashion Star,” Suave Professionals® NEW Keratin Infusion™ 30 Day Smoothing Kit stepped into the spotlight as Celebrity Stylist Theodore Leaf used it to transform model Jordyn’s unmanageable hair into a smooth, shiny ‘do. Step 1: First, Jordyn washes and towel dries her hair, just removing the excess moisture and ensuring that the hair is still damp for the treatment. She then applies Suave Professionals® Keratin Infusion™ Smoothing Cream to every section of the hair, starting at the nape and working her way up until all hair is covered. Theodore ensures she combs each section for even distribution. After waiting twenty five minutes, the appropriate amount of time for Jordyn’s hair type as illustrated in the kit’s instructions, Theodore is amazed at how much smoother her hair looks wet after only step one!

Step 2: After rinsing thoroughly with water (no shampoo), Jordyn applies Suave Professionals® Keratin Infusion™ Cuticle Seal Cream exactly as she did in step one, starting from the nape and moving her way up to the front until all hair is saturated.  After the bottle has been applied, she sits for seven minutes, combing a few times while she waits to keep hair straight. Then, she rinses again without shampooing. 

Step 3: Last and final step! Jordyn applies Suave Professionals® Keratin Infusion™ Heat Defense Leave-In Conditioner, which Theodore recommends using prior to heat styling to protect hair while adding extra conditioning. Jordyn finishes off the treatment by blow drying her hair as she normally would and voila, she’s excited to reveal her smooth, soft hair confessing, “It feels so great and soft already, I love it!”
